I know you all remember Squeek, the tiny tuxie kitten I brought home from the shelter a few months ago who eventually went to another foster so she could be with other kittens. This week Squeek started to go downhill – lethargic, not eating or drinking, hardly even moving, with no response to antibiotics or other treatment. On Saturday she was so weak that we had to face the fact that she had been stricken by the cruel monster known as FIP, and ultimately made the choice to euthanize her.
I wanted her was because she was tiny and sickly and looked so much like Bandit, and that resemblence just makes it all that much harder now. I take some comfort from knowing that there was nothing that could have been done to save her, and she was safe and happy and loved during her too-short life.
Rest in peace, Squeek. You will be missed.
