One year ago today, my very first pregnant foster, Winter, had her kittens! Since I wasn’t blogging back then (obviously), I decided to do a Throwback Thursday because I knew you all would want to see their sweet little faces.
Here’s the beautiful mama, Winter.
Pile o’ babies! They’re actually six days old in this picture. I wish I’d gotten a picture of all of them on the day they were born, but at that point I had neither a blog nor a Facebook page to post pictures to, and I was pretty delirious from all the kitten cuteness.
I got Winter at the end of February last year, and she waited almost a full month to have those babies. I checked on her the evening before she had the kittens at around 11:30 pm, and she ate a plate of canned food and didn’t seem any different. And you know what? When I checked on her the next morning around 7, she proudly presented me with her five babies, all cleaned up and ready to face the world. After waiting for so long, OF COURSE she would have those babies overnight and not let me watch. 🙂
Mama Cat has been moved back into the foster room with the kittens. The poor girl is lonely by herself, so I’m just going to keep her with the babies for now and hopefully they don’t try to nurse on her too much.
